Getting the Canvas and Isinglass Ready for Spring and the Season

Spring has arrived but the weather is not cooperating that much. With Spring comes the task of uncovering the boat and getting it ready for the season. Here are some tips for getting your canvas ready for Spring:

1.Wait until the tempearture is 65 degrees or higher before installing isinglass on your boat. The higher temperatures help the isinglass stretch a bit for easier installation.

    2. Be sure to check your canvas for any broken, loose or missing snaps and repair accordingly. Also check for holes and bug nests.

    3. If your isinglass has become foggy during storage, just hang it in the sun. The fogginess was caused by being stored wet.

    4. Clean and treat your canvas with protectant recommended for your canvas.

    5. Also, be sure to clean and lubricate the zippers and snaps. Star-Brite Snap & Zipper Lubricant is the perfect product for this.

If your canvas and/ or isinglass is in need of repairs, be sure to get them repaired as soon as possible. The canvas shops book up really quick in the Spring. By scheduling the repairs early enough, it will avoid having to wait until the summer to have the canvas repaired.
